Corn Rootworm
Initial corn rootworm hatch events are in the forecast from eastern Missouri northeast across southern, central, and eastern Illinois as well as into western and central Indiana by late in the holiday weekend and into early next week. Scattered rootworm hatches are possible in this area, thus a Moderate initial hatch risk has been issued. Growers are encouraged to monitor fields and in more advanced (earlier planted) fields, dig up roots and determine if larvae are present. Not all fields will see larvae at this time given varying soil and temperature conditions, but the risk will become more widespread over the next few weeks.
