Corn rootworm hatch risks will continue to expand and spread north/east over the next week as heat unit accumulations reach and exceed threshold values. Initially, corn rootworm hatch risks extend from eastern Missouri into central/southern Illinois and also western/central Indiana, but by late week and into next weekend, scattered initial hatch risks extend from central/southern Kansas east into central/northern Missouri, central/southern Illinois, central Indiana, and far western Ohio. Growers located in or near the Moderate risk area are encouraged to dig up roots (especially in more advanced fields) and see if any larvae are present.
