Alert Details

With an increase in heat unit accumulations further to the north comes a greater risk of corn rootworm hatches as initial and population-based hatch thresholds are met or exceeded. More widespread hatches are possible from portions of Kansas into Missouri, central and southern Illinois, western and central Indiana, and far western Ohio where High risks are in place. Further north, more scattered hatches are possible from northern Kansas into southeast Nebraska, southern and central Iowa, additional portions of central/northern Illinois, northern Indiana, far southwest/southern lower Michigan, and additional portions of Ohio. Growers especially in these risk areas are encouraged to dig up roots (especially in more advanced fields) and determine if any larvae are present and take any necessary steps or at least document where problems are found.
