Alert Details

Corn rootworm larvae risks will continue across much of the corn-growing region and there may even be some early beetle emergence risks occurring especially south of I-80 now. With an increasing number of corn fields in this area now reaching or into the tassel/silking stage, growers are encouraged to scout fields and look for early signs of beetle presence and even some silk clipping. Elsewhere, especially north of I-80, continued hatches are possible with larvae pressure and root feeding now possible in many areas. Fields from eastern Colorado into Kansas, Nebraska, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada are all at some level of risk from more scattered pressure in the marginal/fringe areas to locally high pressure in the more intensive acreage regions or areas where corn rootworms have been a problem in recent history.
