Alert Details

Corn rootworm risks remain in the High and Moderate categories for the next week as increasing beetle populations either are or will become the primary concern with silking corn. Growers should scout fields and note not only beetle populations but also if any silk clipping is occurring especially in those areas where pressure is higher. High risk fields are essentially in the more intensive corn acreage areas from Kansas into Nebraska, the eastern Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada with Moderate risks in “fringe” or lower acreage regions such as eastern Colorado, western Nebraska, central Dakotas, and then around the periphery of the High risk area in the Great Lakes region.
