Corn Rootworm
Corn rootworm hatch risks will continue to expand to the north in response to heat unit accumulations being met or exceeded, along with limited hindrance from widespread or heavy rainfall potentially limiting overall hatch viability due to recent dry conditions in many areas. High corn rootworm hatch risks extend from Kansas into eastern Nebraska, central and southern Iowa, Missouri, central and southern Illinois, central Indiana, into western Ohio in the short term. By early-mid next week, hatch risks continue to expand north into northeastern Nebraska, much of Iowa, far southwest Wisconsin, and into northern Illinois and Indiana as well as further into northwest and central Ohio. Growers in or near the risk area are encouraged to begin digging up roots and evaluate local rootworm populations.
