Alert Details

Corn rootworm hatch risks will continue to spread north in response to heat unit thresholds and soil conditions meeting or exceeding initial hatch values throughout the next week. Initially, hatch risks should be confined to fields from Kansas into eastern Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, far southwest Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. By mid-late week and beyond, however, additional hatches should commence further north across central and northern Nebraska, southeast South Dakota, southern Minnesota, Wisconsin, and also into sandier soils across southern lower Michigan as well as additional portions of states further south not already included in the risk area. Growers in or near the risk area are encouraged to continue or commence root digs to determine larvae populations both in corn and soybean fields.
