Alert Details

Corn rootworm risks remain in the High category across much of the corn-growing region for the next week as concerns over beetle populations and silk-clipping abound. Growers in eastern Colorado, the Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada are encouraged to continue regular beetle scouting efforts and make any decisions based on what is occurring in specific fields. Growers may also want to take note of any corn rootworm induced lodging that may be occurring in some fields, and even if beetle populations are not at treatable levels, it will be important to note where those populations are present for future years and adequate planning.
