Alert Details

Corn rootworm beetle risks remain in the Moderate category for the next week especially in those areas where corn is less advanced than in areas further to the south. The recent heat waves have really pushed the corn crop along in terms of maturity especially along and south of I-90, and Moderate risks remain in the forecast in those areas less advanced in growth from northeast Colorado into western and northern Nebraska, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, lower Michigan, northern Indiana, northern Ohio, and into southern Ontario, Canada. Growers with less advanced crops in these areas should continue scouting efforts and even if beetle counts are not at threshold, the location of beetles should be noted as it could impact planting intentions for next year.
