Corn Rootworm
Corn rootworm risks continue across much of the corn-growing region with High risks in the more intensive-corn acreage areas from Kansas north into Nebraska, the eastern Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada. Moderate risks for more scattered issues continue in eastern Colorado, western and northern Nebraska, central Dakotas, and across northern reaches of the corn-growing region in the Great Lakes and into southern Ontario, Canada. Beetle populations will continue to grow in some areas especially with fresh silks becoming increasingly common in many areas, with silk-clipping problems becoming more numerous in the weeks ahead. Some hatches are likely still ongoing especially in the northern corn-growing region, but the overall threat is now shifting to increasing beetle populations which will need regular scouting to determine if any local treatment is warranted.
