Alert Details

Corn rootworm beetle risks remain in the High category across a large portion of the corn-growing region. Fields from Kansas into Nebraska, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada are all in the High risk. Moderate risks continue in the fringe acreage states of Colorado, the central Dakotas, and then further east near the Great Lakes and into Ontario, Canada. Additional Moderate risks are focused across southern and eastern Kansas and into Missouri and southern Illinois where a more advanced crop will keep any rootworm beetle risks scattered, thus the Moderate risk. Growers are advised that whether or not beetle counts require treatment this year, the presence of beetles may indicate the need for various treatment measures or planting intention changes for the 2025 crop so regular scouting is still advised even if the primary threat has passed for this year’s crop.
