Alert Details

Corn rootworm hatch risks will continue to expand north and east over the coming week. Early this week, more widespread hatches will be possible from Kansas into Missouri, central Illinois, and central Indiana with more scattered hatches as far north as southeast Nebraska, central Iowa, western and northwest Illinois, and further east into Indiana and Ohio. By the end of the week or next weekend, scattered hatches will be possible from southwest Kansas into central and eastern Nebraska, much of Iowa, far southwest Wisconsin, portions of northern Illinois, and further east into northern Indiana and Ohio. High risks for more widespread hatches will also expand north into portions of Nebraska, Iowa, western Illinois, and further east into western and central Ohio. Growers in or near these areas should either commence or continue scouting efforts to determine early populations, especially if problems have occurred with corn rootworms in the past or just to be proactive with this year’s crop.
