Alert Details

Corn rootworm hatch risks will continue to expand north and east over the next several days to weeks in response to increasing heat unit accumulations. Initially, more widespread hatches will be possible from eastern Kansas, southeast Nebraska, central and northern Missouri, southern Iowa, central Illinois, central Indiana and Ohio where a High risk is in place with more scattered hatches as far north as eastern Nebraska, central and northern Iowa, far southwest Wisconsin, western and northwest Illinois, and further east into Indiana and Ohio where a Moderate risk has been issued. Additional scattered hatches will be possible in far southeast Minnesota and southeastern lower Michigan by early-mid next week. Growers in or near these areas should either commence or continue scouting efforts to determine early populations, especially if problems have occurred with corn rootworms in the past or just to be proactive with this year’s crop.
