Alert Details

Corn rootworm hatch risks continue to expand north in response to greater heat unit accumulations and also the anticipation of a near to above average temperature regime locking in across much of the corn-growing region by next weekend and beyond. High corn rootworm risks are found from eastern Kansas into southeast Nebraska, central and southern Iowa, Missouri, central Illinois, western and central Indiana, and into central Ohio with scattered risks from Kansas into central Nebraska, northern Iowa, southeast Minnesota, southwest Wisconsin, and much of Illinois, northern Indiana, far southeast lower Michigan, and into northern/central Ohio. Scattered hatch risks will expand west and north by next weekend, with much of the remainder of Kansas, central Nebraska, southeast South Dakota, southern Minnesota and Wisconsin, northeast Illinois, and further north into lower Michigan as well as into southern Ontario, Canada all at risk of seeing corn rootworm hatches by that point. Growers should be digging up roots if located in or near a risk area at this time.
