Alert Details

Corn rootworm hatch risks will continue to spread north in response to favorable weather and soil conditions in the next week. High risks remain in place across a good portion of Kansas with an additional high risk area in northeast Missouri eastward into central Illinois. Moderate risks stretch from southwest Colorado across much of the remainder of Kansas, northern Missouri, and into additional portions of central Illinois not included in the High risk area as well as into Indiana and Ohio. With continued warm to hot temperatures this week in some areas but especially west of the Mississippi River, additional hatches will be possible as far north as southern Nebraska, southern Iowa, and also into the sandier soils in far southwestern lower Michigan by late this week and into next weekend and beyond. Growers in these areas should dig up roots and determine if any corn rootworm larvae are present over the next few weeks.
