Corn Rootworm
Corn rootworm hatch risks will continue to spread north, especially in response to recent heat and lack of widespread, heavy rainfall in many areas in the corn-growing region in the last week and also looking forward. High corn rootworm hatch risks spread from Kansas, southeast Nebraska, northeast into northern Missouri, southern Iowa, central and northern Illinois, central Indiana, and east into Ohio with Moderate risks stretching from eastern Colorado into the remainder of Kansas, central and eastern Nebraska, a good portion of Iowa, central and northern Illinois, northern Indiana, southern lower Michigan, and into northern Ohio as well as into far southwestern lower Ontario, Canada. Growers in or near a risk area are encouraged to dig up roots and determine if local corn rootworm larvae are present and in what numbers.
