As a higher percentage of this growing season’s field corn crop reaches into tassel stage especially in central and southern areas, the focus will shift from rootworm hatches to corn rootworm beetles, and growers with more advanced crops should be scouting for beetles in the coming weeks especially in areas that have historically had issues with corn rootworms. Lingering corn rootworm hatch risks will remain especially north of I-90 at this point, but over the next few weeks the primary focus will shift to beetle populations in most areas especially as fresh silks becoming more prevalent.
