Alert Details

Corn rootworm risks remain in the forecast for the next week across a large portion of the corn-growing region, with High risks in the more intensive acreage regions of Kansas, Nebraska, the eastern Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Missouri, central and northern Illinois, Wisconsin, northern Indiana and Ohio, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada. Moderate risks are found from eastern Colorado into the fringe acreage areas further east. The primary concern now with a higher percentage of fields in fresh silks/tassel stage is with beetle population increases and silk-clipping. Growers should scout fields and count beetles to determine local populations and take note of the locations of populations as it may be important for planting intentions for next year.
