Corn Rootworm
Corn rootworms will continue to cause problems in scattered fields especially across the upper Midwest into the Great Lakes region for the next week, especially where late planted or slowly-maturing fields with fresh silks are still present. Farmers with fields in this growth stage should closely monitor their crop for beetle presence and take appropriate action, if need, especially if beetle count thresholds are exceeded. Otherwise, growers across much of the corn-growing region should still monitor beetle populations even if the crop is past critical growth stages as problems in these fields may lead to potential issues in the 2014 growing season if left untreated now.
