Corn Rootworm
Corn rootworm risks remain in the forecast across a large portion of the corn-growing region this week. Fields from eastern Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Missouri, central and northern Illinois, Wisconsin, lower Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio may continue to see scattered problems with high beetle counts and potential silk clipping in fields at critical growth stages. Growers all across the risk area are encouraged to continue to check their fields and monitor beetle populations. If counts are above threshold, treatment may be needed and also considerations for a change in planting habits may be recommended for next year’s growing season.
