Corn Rootworm
Corn rootworm hatch risks will continue to advance north this week with continuing hatches likely to occur especially along and south of I-80. Fields in eastern Colorado, Kansas, southern, central, and eastern Nebraska, northern Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, southwest Wisconsin, and southern lower Michigan as well as southwest Ontario, Canada are all at risk of seeing new or continued hatches this week. Additionally, fields in southeast and eastern South Dakota, southern Minnesota, and central/southern Wisconsin as well as central lower Michigan are at risk for corn rootworm hatches this week. Growers are advised to not only focus on corn but also volunteer corn in soybean fields to assess corn rootworm larvae hatches and populations. Understanding where corn rootworm are present and at what intensity will help in decision making for next growing season.
