Corn Rootworm
Corn rootworm hatches are predicted to continue this week across virtually the whole of the corn-growing region, with the greatest threat likely focusing along and north of the I-80 corridor. Fields in Kansas, Nebraska, South and North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada are all at risk of seeing corn rootworm hatches continue in the next week. Growers that have experienced problems with corn rootworms in recent years should dig up both corn, volunteer corn, and soybean roots to assess larvae populations and potential damage.
