Corn Rootworm
High corn rootworm risks remain in the forecast across much of the whole of the corn-growing region in the next week. Over threshold beetle populations have been reported in scattered areas of the corn-growing region in the past week or so, with some fields warranting treatment and/or the need for potential crop rotation changes next growing season. Growers are also advised to monitor corn rootworm populations in soybean fields that may contain volunteer corn, as well. If corn rootworms have been a problem in the past few years locally, growers are advised to scout fields and assess beetle populations. Risks continue across central and northern Kansas, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, lower Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and into southern Ontario, Canada, as well.
