Alert Details

Corn rootworm beetle risks will continue to persist for the next week or so, but the main focus is now shifting to fields mainly along and north of I-80 as southern fields are now advancing past critical growth stages where this particular insect presents a risk of damage. Beetle counts have exceeded threshold values in more fields this growing season in comparison to the past few, so growers should continue to scout and check threshold counts not only for potential current treatment but also in planning for next year’s crop rotation planting schedule. High risks continue in fields across the Dakotas, Nebraska, northern Kansas, far northern Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, northern and central Illinois and Indiana, northern Ohio, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada.
