Alert Details

Corn rootworm hatch risks continue to expand north this week especially with recent heat across especially the central and southern corn-growing region this past weekend. New corn rootworm hatches may be observed as far north as southeast South Dakota, northern and central Iowa, far southwest Wisconsin, and also into southwest and southern lower Michigan this week with additional hatches possible by late week and into next weekend into eastern South Dakota, southern Minnesota, southern Wisconsin, northeast Illinois, central and southern lower Michigan, and also into far southwest/southern Ontario, Canada east of Detroit, Michigan. Additional hatches may continue this week further south, as well, mainly along and south of I-80. Growers are encouraged to not only scout corn fields but also dig up volunteer corn in soybean fields, as well, especially in areas where pressure has been higher in the past.
