Alert Details

Scattered corn rootworm beetle issues may linger for the next couple weeks mainly across the central and northern corn-growing region where some crops are still at susceptible stages to damage. Fields in far northern Kansas, northern Missouri, Nebraska, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Illinois, Wisconsin, lower Michigan, northern Indiana and Ohio, as well as into southern Ontario, Canada may still be at risk. Growers should scout and take note of beetle populations in addition to already present damage in corn fields. Even if beetle counts do not meet or exceed threshold values, there may still be a need for a change to planting practices in 2018 to help curb or limit potential rootworm issues next growing season.
