Corn Rootworm
Corn rootworm hatches are expected to continue to expand slightly to the north in the next week as accumulated soil heat units continue to increase into initial hatch thresholds or just beyond. Fields in Kansas, the southeastern half of Nebraska, far southeast South Dakota, extreme southern Minnesota, Iowa, northern Missouri, Illinois, southern Wisconsin, southern lower Michigan, far southwest lower Ontario, Canada, Indiana, and much of Ohio are all at risk of seeing either new or continued hatches this week. Growers should dig up roots and determine if corn rootworms are present especially if there have been problems historically.
