Alert Details

Corn rootworm hatch risks continue to expand north this week into next weekend with additional soil temperature heat unit accumulations reaching or exceeding hatch threshold values. Fields from eastern Colorado into Kansas, Nebraska, southeast South Dakota, Iowa, northern Missouri, southern Minnesota, southern Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, southern lower Michigan, and into far southwest Ontario, Canada are all at risk in the next week. New hatch regions should be focused primarily in South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and into Ontario, Canada. Growers that have had a history of problems with corn rootworms should consider digging up some roots to see if any corn rootworm populations are present, but also anywhere else that has had problems in the general region, as well.
