Alert Details

Corn rootworm beetle pressure may still be an isolated to scattered problem especially in areas where corn is not as advanced quite yet, including portions of western and northern Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada. A Moderate risk for scattered beetle populations remains in place across this region for the next week into next weekend, but the overall concern is lessening and by late week/next weekend, any remaining problems should be focused along and north of I-90. Low risks extend further south of the Moderate risk area, but the overall threat in these fields is also greatly reduced given more advanced crop stages for this time of year. Growers with corn still containing fresh silks should continue to monitor beetle populations and even if threshold counts are not met, it will be important to note where populations are occurring to potentially help adjust planting intentions for next year.
