Corn Rootworm
Moderate corn rootworm beetle risks continue for the next few days across especially the northern corn-growing region from the central Dakotas east into Minnesota, Wisconsin, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada with Low risks further to the south but mainly to the north of I-80 except in portions of western Nebraska, western Kansas, and also into far western/northwest Kansas where the corn crop is a little behind further to the east. The Moderate risk, however, is being removed from the forecast as the corn crop moves past critical stages of growth and the threat for any beetle damage will be greatly reduced, if at all. Growers that do find beetle populations should take note of the location and potentially adjust planting intentions for next spring even if populations do not exceed threshold values as it could indicate a potential problem for that field next year.
