Corn Rootworm
High corn rootworm hatch risks are in the forecast for the next week from eastern Colorado through much of Kansas, southeast and eastern Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, southeast South Dakota, southern Minnesota, central and southern Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, southern lower Michigan, and into far southwest Ontario, Canada. Growers located in or near the risk area should scout fields by digging up roots and determining if larvae populations are present in both corn and soybean fields. Corn rootworm pressure is expected to be more variable this year given heavy/excessive rainfall and ponding/flooding issues, but higher elevation or well-tiled fields with better drainage capabilities are at more risk.
