Alert Details

High corn rootworm risks, especially from beetle population and potential silk clipping, continues as the corn crop continues to advance in growth. Fields across much of the corn-growing region from central and northern Kansas, northeast Colorado, northern Missouri, Nebraska, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada are all at risk. Growers should scout fields regularly and take note of where beetle populations are present and if thresholds are met or exceeded, treatment may be necessary. Additionally, it is important to remember where populations are present this year as this could have an impact on planting intentions for next year’s crop to potentially lessen problems at that time.
