Alert Details

Corn rootworm hatch risks continue to expand north as warmer air and soil temperatures continue to increase the hatch risk. High risks are now in place from Kansas northeast into southeast Nebraska, Missouri, central and southern Iowa, much of Illinois, Indiana, and western Ohio. Moderate risks for more scattered risks are initially found from eastern Colorado northeast into the remainder of northwest Kansas, southeast and eastern Nebraska, Iowa, southwest Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and southern lower Michigan. By later this week and into next weekend, Moderate risks expand further into Colorado, Nebraska, southeast South Dakota, far northern Iowa, southern Minnesota, southern and central Wisconsin, central and southeast lower Michigan, and also into far southern Ontario, Canada. Growers in or near either risk area should dig up roots and take note of where corn rootworm populations, if present, are heaviest over the next several weeks.
