Corn rootworm hatch risks continue to expand north and east as air temperatures and accumulated soil temperatures reach or exceed initial hatch thresholds. Recent drier weather may also promote hatching and survival in many areas so scouting will be important. High risks are in place from Kansas northeast into southeast Nebraska, Missouri, portions of Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, far southwest lower Michigan, extreme southwest Wisconsin, and into Ohio. Moderate risks are found from eastern Colorado into Nebraska, far southeast South Dakota, southern Minnesota, northern Iowa, southern Wisconsin, central/southern lower Michigan, and the remainder of northern Indiana, northern Ohio, and also into southern Ontario, Canada in the next week.
