Corn Rootworm
Corn rootworm hatch risks continue their northward expansion, with all corn-growing region states now included in at least a Moderate initial hatch risk for this growing season. Greatest pressure is expected mainly along and south of I-90 at the beginning of the week, but by late week and into next weekend, High risks expand even further north into South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and lower Michigan. High risks are in place across Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio, as well as at least the southern and central portion of the aforementioned states by late week and into the weekend. Scattered hatches may also occur further north into North Dakota, northwest Minnesota, northern Wisconsin, northern lower Michigan, and further east and northeast into southern Ontario, Canada as well. Growers all across the corn-growing region should dig up roots and determine field-level populations throughout the hatching period.
