Corn Rootworm
Corn rootworm beetle risks and pressure continue across a large portion of the corn-growing region for the next week. Several reports of both corn rootworm feeding and high beetle populations have come in, with some heavy pressure in some areas. Growers in eastern Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, the Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa, northern Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada should all be monitoring fields for signs of corn rootworm beetles at this time. Even if populations are not at threshold levels, it will be important to note where the beetles were present as this could affect planting decisions for next year’s crops.
