Soybean Aphid
Moderate soybean aphid development risks are in place across northern Iowa into southern Minnesota where the greatest likelihood of potential population growth may occur, with Low risks extending from eastern South Dakota into western/central Minnesota, additional portions of Iowa, far northwest Illinois, Wisconsin, lower Michigan, and east into southern Ontario, Canada. Natural predators and heavy, beating rains may limit populations in some areas, but temperatures overall will generally be favorable for soybean aphid populations to locally increase. Growers located in or near a risk area are encouraged to regularly scout fields and monitor soybean aphid population dynamics, and also any treatment decisions that need to be made should be based on what is occurring in specific fields as populations can and will vary considerably even across adjacent fields, so while one field may need treatment the next may not.
