Alert Details

Soybean aphid risks remain in the Moderate category for a portion of the northern soybean-growing region including northern Iowa, a good portion of Minnesota, and also into eastern South Dakota with Low risks from the eastern Dakotas, northwest Minnesota, far northeast Nebraska, central Iowa, extreme northwest Illinois, Wisconsin, and east into lower Michigan as well as southern Ontario, Canada. Weather conditions are expected to be more favorable for soybean aphid population growth through the next several days with generally at or even slightly below average temperatures across the risk area. With many crops now in early reproductive growth stages, regular field-level scouting will be necessary especially in those fields with documented soybean aphid populations. Any treatment decisions need to be made on the field level as populations will vary considerably even across the same or adjacent fields. Population dynamics should be monitored closely over the next week or two especially with more favorable weather for population increases expected.
