Soybean Aphid
Moderate soybean aphid risks continue in the forecast across the eastern Dakotas, northern Iowa, and into Minnesota in the next week. More isolated issues may also occur in the central Dakotas, far northeast Nebraska, central Iowa, eastern Minnesota, Wisconsin, far northwest Illinois, lower Michigan, and further east into southern Ontario, Canada. Growers in these areas are encouraged to continue scouting efforts until soybeans reach R6 growth stage, at which point any yield loss from there or beyond is negligible as a direct result of soybean aphid populations reaching or exceeding treatment thresholds. Soybean aphid populations can and will vary considerably even across adjacent fields, with the potential for higher populations in fields near wooded areas. Any treatment decisions should be made based on field level populations and trends and not necessarily a regional perspective.
