Alert Details

A Moderate soybean aphid risk remains across far eastern North Dakota into northwest Minnesota and western Wisconsin through mid-week. Late or re-planted fields may still be experiencing some soybean aphid populations that are exceeding economic thresholds and also where fields are still possibly at or prior to R5 growth stages. The Moderate risk is no longer in place by late week and next weekend as a strong low pressure system brings widespread rains, gusty northwest winds, and much cooler temperatures by late week. The expected change in the weather pattern is likely to either commence or accelerate movement back to buckthorn for many soybean aphids, and should decrease soybean field populations by that time. Low risks do remain in place from the eastern Dakotas and far northeast Nebraska into far northwest Iowa, central and southern Minnesota, central Wisconsin, lower Michigan, and southern Ontario, Canada through much of the week. Growers especially located in the Moderate risk area are encouraged to continue to scout any fields still at or prior to R5 growth stages and take appropriate action, if it is needed especially in the short-term.
