Alert Details

Soybean aphid populations will continue to reach and/or exceed economic threshold levels, on a scattered basis, across much of the upper Midwest and potentially into the Great Lakes region as well in the next week. Fields from the eastern Dakotas into northeast Nebraska, central and northern Iowa, much of Minnesota, Wisconsin, northern Illinois, northern Indiana, northern Ohio, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada are at the greatest risk and where a Moderate soybean aphid risk is in place. Soybean aphids may also continue to appear and populations potentially grow as far south as south of I-80 in Nebraska, Iowa, and into Illinois in the week ahead especially as mild temperatures and the overall weather pattern will be very favorable for existing populations to increase very quickly. Soybean growers are urged to monitor and scout field by field to determine soybean aphid population dynamics in the week ahead, especially if soybeans are in between R1-R5 growth stages. Adjacent fields are seeing widely varying populations, so it is important to scout your own fields to determine if any treatment decisions are needed.
