Alert Details

Soybean aphids will continue to pose a threat to soybean fields across portions of the northern Plains, upper Midwest, and into the Great Lakes region in the next week. With temperatures predicted to be at favorable levels for populations to increase in the next week, growers should remain vigilant about scouting individual fields and monitoring population changes, and be prepared to take any necessary action should threshold values be met or exceeded for that particular field. While problems largely remain scattered, with greatest pressure appearing mainly west of the Mississippi River in Iowa, Minnesota, and the eastern Dakotas, it is important to focus on your fields and not necessarily what the local/regional report is saying as populations are varying even across a small area. Even if populations have not met thresholds in your fields yet, they still could in the next week or so especially if favorable weather remains in place. Fields from the eastern Dakotas into northeast Nebraska, northern and central Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, far northern Illinois, central and southern lower Michigan, far northern Indiana and Ohio, and southwest Ontario, Canada are all at risk of seeing at least scattered fields reaching or exceeding threshold values in the week ahead.
