Soybean Aphid
Growers should continue to monitor soybean aphid populations throughout the upper Midwest especially if the field is at or prior to R6 growth stage. Moderate risks continue in the forecast for the next week especially in the eastern Dakotas and Minnesota, but have been reduced further south and east due to the crop in the majority of areas now past critical growth stages and/or few problems associated with soybean aphids have been reported. Latest planted fields are at the greatest risk now especially in the eastern Dakotas and Minnesota, but with rather cool temperatures over the weekend along with gusty northwest winds, soybean aphids in some areas may have begun to disperse as they make their way back to buckthorn to overwinter. Still, growers with fields at or prior to the R6 growth stage in the upper Midwest should continue to monitor populations in the next week.
