Soybean Aphid
Soybean aphid egg hatch risks are expected to continue to shift slightly further north this week to reach far northern soybean growing regions in North Dakota, northwest and central Minnesota, far northern Wisconsin, central and northern lower Michigan, and also into southern Ontario, Canada. Continued egg hatches will be possible further south, but much of the egg hatch risk for this growing season will now be confined to areas north of the I-90 and I-94 corridors. Growers should be advised that there is no threat to any crops or fields at this time – this elevated soybean aphid risk simply provides an awareness that soybean aphids are beginning their annual life/regeneration cycles and temperatures should be monitored over the next few weeks which may affect early-season population dynamics.
