Soybean Aphid
Soybean aphid risks remain in the Moderate category for a large part of Minnesota, the eastern Dakotas, and far northern Iowa for the next week into next weekend with Low risks from the central Dakotas south and east into northeast Nebraska, northern and central Iowa, Wisconsin, far northern Illinois, and into lower Michigan as well as into southern Ontario, Canada. Many soybean fields are at critical reproductive growth stages and soybean aphid populations have increased dramatically in some areas of the northern soybean growing region, especially in Minnesota, in the past week. Growers should scout their own fields to determine treatment needs, noting population changes and not just rely on what the local report may be indicating as soybean aphid pressure can and does vary widely even across adjacent fields.
