Soybean Aphid
Moderate soybean aphid risks continue in the forecast this week into next weekend especially across the eastern Dakotas, much of Minnesota, and far northern Iowa. Low risks extend from the central Dakotas and northeast Nebraska east into northern Iowa, Wisconsin, much of lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada. The highest pressure appears to be focused across the Moderate risk area including much of Minnesota as well as the eastern portion of North and South Dakota. Growers located especially in this region should be regularly scouting soybean fields that are at or prior to the R6 growth stage. It is advised that scouting actively continues even after treatment is applied until the field reaches at least R6 stage because loss of yield is less likely after that point. Decisions to treat should be based on what is occurring in each specific field versus the local report as soybean aphid populations will vary considerably even across adjacent fields.
