Soybean Aphid
Moderate soybean aphid risks continue in the forecast across eastern North and South Dakota, much of Minnesota, far northern Iowa, and into far western Wisconsin. Low risks extend from the central Dakotas and far northeast Nebraska east into central Iowa, far northern Illinois, much of Wisconsin, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada. While the majority of soybean fields are not near threshold, there have been some fields that have needed treatment and some late-season aphid increases are still possible in fields that are in the R4-R6 growth stage especially in the next week or so. Growers located in or near the Moderate risk area that still have fields that have not yet reached the R6 growth stage are encouraged to continue scouting efforts until the R6 growth stage is reached. There may be some northwest to southeast migration this week, so populations could increase quickly in areas that presently have low or no populations at the present time.
