Soybean Aphid
Moderate soybean aphid risks remain in the forecast across much of Minnesota, eastern North Dakota, eastern South Dakota, far northern Iowa, and into far western Wisconsin. Low risks extend from the central Dakotas and northeast Nebraska east across the northern third of Iowa, extreme northern Illinois, much of Wisconsin, lower Michigan, and into southern Ontario, Canada. Growers located in or near the Moderate risk area are especially encouraged to scout soybean fields that are in reproductive growth stages prior to R5.5-R6 and to take into account the entire field and not just field edges when making any decisions to treat the field. While there have been some treatments necessary, in general pressure from soybean aphids has been less this year but as long as the crop is still in a growth stage prior to R6, regular scouting is encouraged as populations can increase very quickly in a short period of time.
