Soybean Aphid
Low soybean aphid development risks have been introduced to the forecast this week as a higher percentage of soybean plants are expected to flower and reach the pod setting stage in some areas of the northern soybean-growing area. Low risks are now in place especially in areas where soybeans are in better shape where more moisture has recently occurred from southeast and south central Minnesota and north central Iowa east into Wisconsin. Weather conditions in the next week may also favor population increases where soybean aphids are present given an expectation of near or even below average temperatures and generally light to moderate rainfall. Growers with more advanced soybean fields in or near the Low risk area are encouraged to begin or continue scouting fields and just take note of local populations and trends in the next week.
