Soybean Aphid
Soybean aphid risks remain in the Moderate category for the next week as the majority of the crop continues to be at a susceptible stage to damage (between R1-R5 growth stages) and there have been some areas where soybean aphids have met or exceeded threshold values for treatment, especially in the Moderate risk area. There are also many fields with low or even no aphid populations present, so growers are encouraged to scout each field and not necessarily rely on what the local gossip or coffee shop talk is saying as populations will vary from field to field. Moderate risks continue in eastern South Dakota, far southeast North Dakota, Minnesota, northern Iowa, and into western and central Wisconsin, with Low risks extending from the Dakotas and northeast Nebraska east into central Iowa, remaining sections of Minnesota not in the Moderate risk, far northwest and northern Illinois, and into Wisconsin for the next week.
